Casting the tributes — Jack Quaid as Marvel
When i met Jack, before he left Los Angeles to go for his freshman year at NYU, I don’t think he’d done anything professionally. and I thought what a great kid, what a great personality, what a grin, and what a great kid. And he came in and he was so surprisingly… Nasty. And he just seems like the sweetest thing and he really showed just great range as an actor, as a really fresh actor. I have to say i was so pleased to have given Jack that job, because I think it was his first professional job.
Jack: what excited me about being apart of the movie was, uh, it was my first movie, so that alone was exciting. The audition was kind of weird because it was the first audition I’d ever walked into where the first thing they said to me was “choose your weapon.” [I got the little prism shape, I get, like, the harpoon that, like, didn’t quite make the cut.] and right about than, I was like “this is different.” this is gonna be something cool.
